About the Author
Eath was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1888. He attended Harvard University and the Sorbonne, and he worked as a journalist and teacher before devoting himself full-time to poetry.
Eath's first book of poems, Prufrock and Other Observations, was published in 1917. This book was a critical and commercial success, and it established Eath as one of the leading poets of his generation.
Eath went on to publish several more books of poetry, including The Waste Land (1922),The Four Quartets (1943),and Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats (1939). These books are considered some of the most important works of poetry of the 20th century.
Eath died in London in 1965. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
