Early Life and Career
Beemer was born in 1930 in rural Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm and began riding motorcycles at a young age. He quickly developed a passion for racing and began competing in dirt-track events at the age of 16.
Beemer quickly rose through the ranks of dirt-track racing and became one of the top riders in the country. He won numerous races and championships, and was known for his aggressive riding style and fearless attitude.
Hollywood Stuntman
In the early 1960s, Beemer was recruited by Hollywood stunt coordinator Paul Mantz to work as a stuntman in movies. Beemer quickly became one of the most sought-after stuntmen in the industry, and he performed some of the most dangerous stunts ever seen on film.
Beemer's most famous stunt was in the 1968 film "Bullitt." In the film, Beemer rode a motorcycle through the streets of San Francisco at speeds of over 100 mph. The stunt was so dangerous that it was almost cut from the film, but it ultimately became one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.
Later Life and Legacy
Beemer retired from stunt work in the early 1970s, but he continued to ride motorcycles for the rest of his life. He died in 2001 at the age of 71.
